The 23rd edition of the Quais du Polar festival will be held from Friday 2 to Sunday 4 April 2027!<\/strong>
Join us in Lyon at the Palais de la Bourse, the H\u00f4tel de Ville, the Chapelle de la Trinit\u00e9 and numerous partner cultural venues. The list of guest authors will be announced in December 2026<\/span>. THE RULES OF THE GAME: JUSTICE, POWER AND DEMOCRACY<\/strong>
For its 23rd edition, Quais du Polar has chosen to place justice, power and democracy at the heart of its programme. A choice that echoes the very essence of crime fiction: to investigate, to judge, to expose the flaws in a system, and to shed light on what resists.
The 40th anniversary of the Klaus Barbie trial, which left its mark on the history of Lyon, will serve as a reminder of the essential role of justice in the face of the most serious crimes and the need to remain vigilant against racist and anti-Semitic excesses.
The legal crime novel explores in detail the mechanisms of justice, but also its limitations. What happens when it fails? Why does the temptation to take the law into one\u2019s own hands arise? Another reality runs through these stories: that of social injustice. Are opportunities truly equal for all? Who pays the price? These imbalances raise broader questions about our relationship with justice.
Throughout the festival, these questions will be discussed with those who bring justice to life on a daily basis: institutions, professionals and local stakeholders. Together with its many partners, Quais du Polar will provide a space for concrete reflection on the practices and challenges of justice, alongside the fiction.
And in 2027, a year of presidential elections in France, these questions will take on particular significance. What is the relationship between justice and democracy? Does power still lie with the people, and if so, in what way? These questions extend far beyond our borders, as demonstrated in particular by political developments in the United States.
Exploring \u2018The Rules of the Game\u2019 means questioning the very foundations of our societies: who sets the rules, who enforces them, and are they still accepted by everyone?<\/strong><\/p>

Authors whom publishers wish to submit for the 2027 edition of the Quais du Polar festival must have a new book published between April 2026 and April 2027.<\/strong>. To submit an entry, a copy of the work must be sent, together with a supporting statement, by email by mid-November 2026 at the latest. <\/strong><\/span>If your proposal is successful, we will contact you before December 2026.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
Only applications submitted by publishers will be considered.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Vote for the French-language crime novel of the year and help choose the 23rd winner of the Quais du Polar Readers\u2019 Prize.<\/a><\/p>

Quais du Polar, the international crime literature and film festival, is inviting applications to form the new official jury for the Quais du Polar Readers\u2019 Prize. This jury will be responsible for selecting \u2018the\u2019 French-language crime novel of 2026 from a shortlist of six novels. <\/span><\/p>

Send us a letter explaining the reasons for your application and describing your literary tastes. <\/span>Please remember to include your personal details (first name, surname, age), your occupation and your place of residence. <\/span>This information is essential for us to establish a panel for our jury before the deadline (as evidenced by the postmark or email date).<\/span><\/p>
