A few words about Peter Heller
A poet, a seasoned reporter with a love of the great outdoors, a keen kayaker, angler and surfer, and a fan of adventure travel, Peter Heller made his debut as a novelist and was hailed as a revelation in 2012 with his page-turner—a post-apocalyptic yet uplifting novel— The Dog Stars. He has continued to demonstrate his talent ever since with The Painter (2014), The River (2019), The Guide (2022) and The Apple Orchard (2024). All have been published in French by Actes Sud. His next novel, Burn, will be published in french, again by Actes Sud, on 16 September 2026.
A look back at previous autumn meetings
This event forms part of the Quais du Polar festival’s annual programme. The autumn events are held every year, and Peter Heller is honouring us with his first-ever participation. He thus follows in the footsteps of Ivy Pochoda, David Joy, Julia Chapman, Qiu Xiaolong, Chris Offutt, David Vann, Ron Rash, Cilla and Rolf Börjlind, Benjamin Whitmer and James Carlos Blake.
